Company Name: IT BY DESIGN
Location: Freehold, NJ
Type: Full Time
Salary: NA
Job Description:
We are looking for a Director of Community and Events to take Build IT from an event-focused organization to a year-round, strategically managed community.
This is not simply an events role. You will own the community strategy, member engagement and retention, Build IT LIVE, our AI Accelerator program, and executive peer-group experience.
You will be responsible for defining what the community becomes, building the operating model around it, and establishing the metrics that demonstrate its growth and impact.
What We’re Looking For:
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of progressive experience in community, events, membership, programs, or related leadership roles.
- Demonstrated P&L ownership for an event, program, membership organization, or similar function.
- Proven experience building and scaling a community, membership program, cohort model, or event franchise.
- Experience leading distributed teams across multiple time zones and cultures.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver results through people who do not directly report to you.
- Strong executive presence and credibility with senior business audiences.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Ability to work onsite in Freehold, New Jersey, five days per week.
- Ability to travel approximately 25%.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the MSP, IT services, B2B technology, SaaS, or technology ecosystem.
- Experience developing executive peer groups, masterminds, advisory boards, or cohort-based programs.
- Experience establishing community engagement metrics and measurement frameworks from the ground up.
- Familiarity with EOS or a comparable operating framework.
The Right Fit:
You will thrive in this role if you:
- Think strategically before operationally.
- Have built something rather than simply maintained it.
- Are comfortable operating in an environment where the playbook is still being created.
- Know how to build capability in people and create systems that scale.
- Can earn credibility with MSP owners, executives, and other senior business leaders.
- Are comfortable making decisions, taking ownership, and surfacing problems early.
- See ambiguity as an opportunity to build rather than a reason to wait for direction.
