Job Description:
The Director of Events is a strategic leadership role focused on designing and executing impactful events that drive HFMA’s mission, engagement, and growth. This position requires a visionary approach to event strategy, aligning with long-term organizational goals to enhance member value, foster community, and increase brand equity.
Responsibilities Strategic Planning
- Craft a forward-thinking event strategy that positions HFMA at the forefront of the industry.
- Use insights from market trends, member feedback, and competitive analysis to guide event planning.
- Develop events that not only serve existing members but also expand the association’s reach. Focus on lifecycle engagement strategies to convert attendees into long-term members.
Financial Stewardship
- Oversee event budgeting with a strategic eye on long-term financial health, ensuring sustainability and profitability.
- Innovate sponsorship and partnership models to generate new revenue streams.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Lead cross-functional teams and collaborate with association leadership to integrate event outcomes into broader organizational objectives.
- Cultivate high-value partnerships that align with strategic priorities.
- Engages and maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders, including members, sponsors, partners, and speakers.
Brand Elevation
- Ensure all events reflect and elevate HFMA’ brand, creating memorable experiences that reinforce member loyalty and attract new audiences.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to promote events through various channels, including social media, email campaigns, and association newsletters.
Innovation in Event Delivery
- Up-to-date knowledge of emerging logistics and event management technologies. Pioneer the use of cutting-edge event formats and technologies, including hybrid and virtual platforms, to meet diverse audience needs and extend reach.
- Leverage event management software for registration, ticketing, and virtual event platforms to enhance HFMA’s ability to curate and deliver industry-leading experiences.
- Define and oversee HFMA meeting standards and best practice; oversee the development of processes for scalability of events.
Performance Metrics
- Establish KPIs for event success beyond attendance, such as engagement levels, satisfaction scores, and long-term member value.
- Use data analytics to drive decision-making and demonstrate ROI.
Risk and Crisis Management
- Proactively mitigate risks by developing strategic contingency plans.
- Lead the organization through unforeseen challenges with resilience and adaptability.
Leadership and Culture
- Foster a culture of innovation, inclusivity, and excellence within the events team.
- Provide mentorship and career development opportunities to build a strong, future-ready team.
Perform other duties as needed. Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 10 years strategic event management, with significant experience in a leadership capacity shaping organizational strategy through events.
- Demonstrated success in creating and implementing strategic initiatives that have significantly impacted organizational growth or member engagement.

- Expertise in leveraging advanced event technologies and data analytics to enhance event outcomes.
